S&S

Their love story started with just a simple and casual “Hi” and “Hello”.

They only started to get to know each other through sms, phone calls and bbm since Steve was busy with work and even stayed out of UAE due to some company projects. When he came back, they started dating.

Since Sherill moved to Ras Al Khaimah about 120kms (75 miles) away from Dubai, Steve often drives to Ras Al Khaimah to meet and have dinner or coffee with her then drive back again to Dubai late night for his work the following day.

They both wanted to move to the next level of relationship but Sherill is quite hesitant and told Steve “I’m not good in long distance relationship” Steve wanted to burst out with laughter as it’s only an hour drive (for him) but he controlled himself and told her “We can sort it out” so they followed their hearts, took chances of falling in love and be happy again...

Few weeks later, Steve asked Sherill to apply for an Annual leave for at least 2 weeks. Sherill though intrigued and puzzled, she applied and was granted; not knowing that Steve already arranged return tickets for both of them to Philippines. He definitely wanted to meet and be with Sherill’s family, to get to know them better and spend Christmas and his birthday with them.

So they went to Philippines, spent couple of days out of town with Sherill's immediate family and since there's always a Christmas party/Reunion being held yearly, he was able to meet the whole Santos Clan and Cruz Family as well.  Everyone was pleased, really enjoyed and had a good time together.

When they came back from their holiday, Steve moved to Ras Al Khaimah just to be with Sherill, driving a total of 240kms++ daily for his work in Dubai. He really sorted it out!

After couple of months, Steve decided to visit UK for Sherill to meet his family but as an Asian, there are a lot of requirements to be submitted for her to her visa approved. They're already expecting that Sherill won't get it the first time she applied but to their surprise, she even got a 6 months multiple entry. It was really a good news for the couple but in exchange of that good news, they received a message from UK that his Nan passed away. (the same day they received the approval of the visa)  It was really frustrating, as much as she wanted to be introduced to Steve's family as his girlfriend, she doesn't want it to be during a funeral service but, there may have a reason for that... Nan helped them to get the visa approved for Sherill to be there and meet not only Steve's immediate family but all his relatives and family friends as well...

After the service, all gathered to a place where they can celebrate Nan's life and for her to know that everyone she had left behind will be okay. It was a totally different tradition yet informative for Sherill to witness Steve's culture and tradition.

It was really a sweet sorrow but everyone needs to move on and now is the time for Sherill to know Steve's family well. Roger and Kathleen, his parents, Carla, his one and only sister and Glen, his brother-in-law are really nice, generous and very accommodating. Charlotte, his one and only niece though a bit reserved but still, Sherill never felt awkward or uncomfortable being with them. They will always check if Sherill is doing fine and they enjoy telling stories about Steve during his younger years. Roger even showed Sherill all his amazing collections and incase they will visit UAE and Philippines, post offices will definitely be one of the itineraries not to be missed. Sherill doesn't usually eats lamb but when she tasted the lamb Kath prepared for the Sunday Dinner, there's a sudden change of mind and will definitely be looking forward to have it again. She also enjoyed Carla's company. Her smiling face, her high energy and will definitely be enjoying going out with her even Steve won't be around. With Glen, he will just smile at you, A man of few words. Quite reserved like Charlotte but you would know that he will just be there, ready when you needed him. Quite a short time to know them but it was really worthwhile.

Steve also introduced her to his close friends, Nick and Rachel and their two lovely daughters, Tash and Abby. That family really rocks! You will instantly feel at home by the time you enter their place and not to mention how Sherill loved the pond they have at the back. No wonder Steve is really having a good time with the Wells family. She also met Adam and Corinne a.k.a Frenchy (as she is French) and their sweet little kids. It was really funny when Adam and Steve started to reminisce about the crazy chillis they are putting to ferment an onion and once fermented, all their friends will do a race and the first one to finish a jar of those wins. While in the middle of conversation, Adam brought out a jar of those fermented onion and gave it to Steve to welcome him! You would smell how fiery hot it was just by opening the jar. Steve tried one piece and immediately really had a teary eyed and red face and never dared to get a second one... lol :)

Steve and Sherill, together with his family and friends had dinner in a Thai Restaurant before they went back to UAE and really had a blast. They all enjoyed the ambiance, the food, the drinks and each other's company. Something to be looking forward to...
